What a Weekend!!

This weekend was absolutely amazing. I needed a weekend like that. And...I love that I have today off to get myself together for the week. Let's recap!

Friday night after work, I met up with my friends Christina and LeRoy to shoot a promotional video for The Exchange at church. It was good times and look for the link to the video coming soon. While shooting the video, Christina and I decided to see Beauty and the Beast 3D with Hannah. This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE movie and I enjoyed it even more in 3D.

Saturday, Beth came into town for my best friend's wedding shower. It was so great to see Julie and celebrate with her. I got my bridesmaid dress at the shower and now the fun comes in trying to figure out how to wear it. It's one of those twist wrap dresses so you can wear it like a ton of different ways.

Saturday night, Emily and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Broncos/Patriots game. Sad that the Broncos lost, but I ran into an old friend. So not all bad.

Yesterday was pretty lazy. I went to church, got a run/walk in, and planned my menu and grocery list for the week. I'm pretty proud of myself with my run/walk. I did a run 1 minute, walk 1 1/2 minute split for 20 minutes on the treadmill. I hope today I can try a 1 minute, 1: 15 minute walk split. We shall try.

I stepped on the scale today and I'm down another 3.5 pounds!!!! I'm so excited. It seems like this planning out meals, no soda, working out thing is working so far for me. It's not like I've given everything up either. I've had a soda and some fast food this week. I never want to deprive myself of anything. Hopefully I can keep it up this week.

Enjoy your MLK day friends and remember what he stood for!

Hump Day!

Thank Goodness it is Wednesday! I'm ready for the weekend and it's a four day weekend. Love! Also, they are calling for snow tonight for the first time...should be an interesting commute tomorrow.

I have still not had a soda or fast food since January 1st. That's quite an accomplishment for this girl. I'm doing pretty well on my run/walk goals as well. Tonight I ran/walk with a co-worker outside. It's been beautiful outside, but not for long.

Back to the Grind

Went back to work today after an amazing break off. Luckily we just had professional development today and the kids will come back tomorrow. I have good ideas in my head for this semester, but we will see what I come up with.

For breakfast, I had a bowl of cheerios and a banana at about 10:00 am. I was also able to try out my new coffeemaker I got from my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas. I was able to program it the night before and used this amazing English Toffee coffee I got from Emily. It was a great start to the day considering I gave up soda...or at least once a week:)

Lunch was a meet-up with co-workers for a pizza buffet. Not the healthiest, but delicious.

Got out of the training a little earlier and was able to get a run/walk in. I started on the treadmill at the fitness center with a walk 2 minute/run 1 minute; however, the treadmill quit at minute 6. So I finished the workout outside around the apartment complex. I couldn't time it, but I split up the laps with running and walking. So, I think I started out ok!

Take Two...

Well, I tried to go to the fitness center today to start my training for my marathon relay. Fitness Center was locked. Boo. My intentions were good, but I guess I'll start tomorrow. I'm going to start with run 1 minute, walk 2 minutes for 20 minutes. Hopefully that will start me on the right path.

I made a great Chicken Enchilada Soup for dinner tonight. I got it off of Skinny Taste blog and it was delicious and super easy to make. I'm hoping it will last me for the week and I also put some in the freezer for later.

Now, I'm enjoying my last night off with The Bachelor.

2012: Screw It!

So my friends and I always try to come up with a motto for the year. For 2012 our motto is Screw It! I know that seems like a horrible motto, but hear us out. My friend Beth wrote a note that puts it all out there:

We mean this in a variety of ways, none of them dirty.
1.“Screw it” means taking some chances without overthinking. We both did this yesterday. Screw it.
2.“Screw it” means not caring as much about what people we really don’t care about think of us and the decisions we make with our lives. With our decisions, ultimately, we are responsible to God, to ourselves and our own happiness, and to our families. No one else. We’re not going to worry so much about other people’s perceptions of our decisions, especially when we don’t really care about most of those people anyway. Screw it.
3. “Screw it” means trying to take care of ourselves occasionally instead of everybody else. So, if I want or need to take a nap or go for a run in the middle of the day instead of grading papers, I’m going to give myself permission to do that and not feel guilty for “not doing something productive.” Screw it.
4.“Screw it” means doing/saying the occasional out-of-character thing. See number 1. Screw it.

My friend Beth has such a great gift for writing. She really explains exactly what we mean by "Screw It".

In keeping with this motto of 2012, I have set some goals for 2012.

1. I'm gonna try to blog at least 3 times a week, because I think it keeps me accountable and I like to put my thoughts out there sometimes.

2. I am also going to train for a marathon relay with my friends. I have never really thought about doing this, but I was asked and I'm gonna do it. I really think it is an appropriate goal if I do run/walk intervals. So, I'm gonna start that today.

3. Run a whole 5K. I'm hoping that in training for the 10K this will come along.

4. Plan my meals for the week and shop accordingly. Along with this, I'm going to start eating better.

5. Enjoy my friends, family, and job. I have amazing people in my life and sometimes I take them for granted. Sometimes I feel sorry for myself because I don't have the life I thought I would have by now. God has given me so much to be thankful for and I often overlook it. Not this year!

Overall, 2012 will be a year of me getting better physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Oh...did I mention I turn 30 this year and I'm totally freaking out about it.

Here's to 2012 people. Let's Embrace it and "screw it".

The lovely friends I rang in 2012 with. I had a blast:)
